Our story · Oakwood Square since 2014

From dishwasher to owner.

Russ and Roger opened the Bistro in 2014. Tony washed dishes here. Now he runs it.

Hear it from Tony

Meet the owner

Tony Paumier

His first job. Every station. Then the keys.

Founders Russ Chambers and Roger Stewart mentored Tony for nearly 15 years, from the dish pit through every station on the line.

“Any given night, the dishwasher’s backed up. I know exactly what he’s going through. So I know how to help.”
Tony Paumier, owner

When the owner has worked every job in the building, it shows. Our Google reviews keep coming back to the staff: attentive, friendly and quick, even with a big table.

How we got here

Twelve years in Oakwood Square.

  1. The founders

    Russ Chambers & Roger Stewart

Two friends who loved restaurants and bringing people together built a place of their own.

  2. 2014

    The Bistro opens

They opened in Oakwood Square, a plaza that had seen better days. The room filled up anyway.

  3. The years after

    A neighborhood staple

Plain Township and Canton made it theirs: rehearsal dinners, baby showers, big birthdays, happy hour at the bar.

  4. The mentors

    “Like another set of parents”

“Rusty and Roger, they were my mentors for close to 15 years. My first ever job. Every skill, every recipe, everything was learned from that.” — Tony

  5. Today

    Tony takes the keys

The dishwasher they trained owns the place now. The goal hasn’t changed: good food, a warm room, and a table for everyone.

Off the clock

We vibe as a family.

“What I love most about this place is that everybody brings their own personality.” — Tony
