The Bistro of Oakwood
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2, 2026
The Bistro of Oakwood (“the Bistro,” “we,” “us”) runs this website for our restaurant at 2664 Easton St NE, Canton, OH 44721. This policy explains what information the site collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Information you send us. When you use our reservation, event and catering form, we receive what you type in: your name, email address, phone number, whether it’s a table reservation or an event, the date and time, guest count, event type, venue, budget range and any notes. If you call or email us, we receive whatever you choose to share.
Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
How you use the site. We use Microsoft Clarity, a website analytics service, to understand how visitors use this site. The website analytics section below explains exactly what it records and how to turn it off.
We don’t use advertising trackers, we don’t let our analytics provider set advertising cookies, and we don’t sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising.
How we use it
- To confirm your table, answer your inquiry, plan your event or catering order, and follow up with you about it.
- To run, secure and improve the website.
- To meet legal obligations, if any apply.
We won’t add you to a marketing list from an inquiry unless you ask us to.
Website analytics (Microsoft Clarity)
We partner with Microsoft Clarity to see how people use our website, so we can tell what’s working, fix what isn’t and make the site easier to use. Clarity captures how you use and interact with the site through usage statistics, heatmaps and session replays (a reconstruction of your visit that shows how you moved through a page).
What Clarity records: the pages you view and how long you stay, clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement, the site that referred you, your device type, browser and screen size, and an approximate location (such as city or region) worked out from your IP address. We also note when someone taps to call us, get directions, open our reviews or social pages, or sends an event inquiry, without recording any details about them.
What it doesn’t record: anything you type into our reservation, event and catering form, which is hidden from Clarity entirely. We don’t knowingly send Clarity your name, email address, phone number or payment details.
Cookies. With analytics on, Clarity uses cookies, mainly two on this site: _clck, which remembers an anonymous Clarity ID for up to one year so repeat visits can be counted, and _clsk, which links the pages of a single visit for up to one day. Microsoft may also use cookies on its own Clarity domain to run the service. We tell Clarity that advertising storage is not allowed, and our site blocks Microsoft’s advertising cookie connection, so no advertising cookies are set through our site.
How long it’s kept. Microsoft keeps session replays for about 30 days and usage statistics for about 13 months, then deletes them.
Microsoft’s role. Microsoft collects and processes this data to provide the Clarity service, and may use it as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Your choices.
- Opt out any time with the link at the bottom of every page. We stop Clarity, clear its cookies and remember your choice in this browser.
- Browser privacy signals are honored automatically. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, Clarity never loads.
- Visitors in Europe, the UK and Switzerland are asked first, and Clarity runs only if they choose “Allow.”
- Blocking or clearing cookies in your browser also works. The site works the same either way.
Visit counts. Our host, Vercel, also counts visits and page views for us with Vercel Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, doesn’t keep your IP address and can’t tell who you are; it only tells us totals, such as how many people opened the menu page today. It stops when you opt out with Privacy choices or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.
Search statistics. We also use Google Search Console, which gives us totals on how our site appears in Google Search (for example, how many people saw or clicked it). It runs on Google’s side and adds no tracking code to this site.
Services that help run the site
We use a few trusted providers, and each only handles your information to provide its service:
- Vercel hosts the website, keeps the technical logs described above and provides the cookie-free visit counts.
- Microsoft Clarity provides the website analytics described above.
- Wix stores inquiry-form submissions in our business account, emails us when one arrives, and hosts our menu and dish photos.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on the site, and Google Maps shows our location when you open the map. Google may receive your IP address when these load.
- Links to Facebook and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry details for as long as we need them to plan and follow up on your event, and for ordinary business records afterward. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
Your choices
You can turn website analytics off at any time (see website analytics). You can also ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email BistroofOakwood@yahoo.com or call (330) 915-8173.
Children
This website isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No method of sending information online is perfectly secure, so please don’t include sensitive details such as payment card numbers in the inquiry form.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
